Joe Gutheinz is a former U.S. Army Aviator, who subsequently served as a Special Agent with the following Federal agencies: FAA Civil Aviation Security, U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General (OIG) and as a Senior Special Agent with NASA's OIG. As a Special Agent he had over two dozen successful criminal and administrative cases against pilots. As a Senior Special Agent with NASA OIG he led a nine-agency task force investigation that put seven companies out of business and resulted in the largest count indictment and conviction in NASA history. He also served as lead criminal investigator of the Russian Mir Space Station fire and collision. Since retiring from NASA OIG he has served as an expert consultant on both FAA and NASA-related cases.
